Daedric Quests In Skyrim

In Oblivion, Daedric quests were all started by visiting a shrine, but in Skyrim they're mostly not and a lot of the Princes don't have shrines at all. Azura, Boethiah, Meridia, Molag Bal, and Peryite are the only ones where you can just use the Oblivion method of walking up to the shrine to start the quest. For The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition on the Xbox One, a GameFAQs message board topic titled 'Daedric quests canon?'

Daedric Quests (Skyrim) Daedric Shrines (Skyrim) Discerning the Transmundane; I Ill Met by Moonlight; P Pieces of the Past; S Speak to Lod; T The Black Star (Quest) The Break of Dawn; The Cursed Tribe; The House of Horrors; The Mind of Madness; The Only Cure; The Taste of Death; The Whispering Door. Here you will find all the quests related to the various Daedric gods and there’s quite a few of them. These quests all have certain triggers (you often have to complete a Miscellaneous Quest or find the god’s shrine or something like that to trigger these quests), so we’ll tell you how to get these quests, then we’ll give you a guide to them!

numbers[edit]

this article says that there are 15 daedric quests however all 16 of the princes are listed here, anyone know why? Andil the mage 18:01, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

Daedric
I re-added Sheogorath, but didn't notice the number. Thanks for pointing it out. For the record, you should feel free to correct minor errors like that. --AKB 18:13, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Just a point, why would there be 16 quests but only 15 artifacts? And the 15 artifact achievement was confirmed. --Kiz·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 18:14, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Maybe one can't be completed if you complete a certain quest? Maybe we're wrong about which ones are in? It's currently one of the many unknowns. However, it appears that Sheogorath is back. Yes, I'm basing that on information coming from a leaked source, but since it's just a red link right now, and it could of been a fair assumption that he would be back, I added the link. At this point, I'm willing to just say that we should wait until the game is released in two days to answer this. --AKB 18:23, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, especially with the last point :) It was just an observation that stumped me, unless of course you don't get an artifact from one of them? Who knows :) --Kiz·•· Talk ·•· Contribs ·•· Mail ·•· 18:28, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

(←) Theory: The Vaermina quest gives you the option to destroy the artifact. The trophy is set to 15 so that you don't need to replay the quest, similar to the Imperial/Greycloak quests.- 174.93.85.72 01:23, 13 November 2011

I believe that it may be because after to completing the Thieves' Guild quest, you no longer possess the Skeleton Key. If you decide not to complete the quest, the key, as far as I know, does not function as it did in previous installments. As it is a quest item, rather than a Daedric artifact, it would not count toward the 15 artifact achievement. I'm not sure if reflecting this on the table would be considered a spoiler or not, however. .ch1m3r4.talk. 10:40, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
There is a deadric artifact's quest line that does allow it to be gained or destroyed, hence 15 of 16 being the mark to gain the achievment. — Unsigned comment by 75.65.227.148 (talk) at 10:59 on 14 December 2011
Darkness Returns is the odd one, the skeleton key has to be returned to complete the quest The Silencer 04:08, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Inaccuracies[edit]

Molag Bal: If it is true that the Vigilant 'accosts' the player during the night, then it is entirely possible that his behaviour is based on your previous actions. I met him during the day, and rather than 'accosting' me, he invited me to join him in his quest to strike down the Daedra, and any worshippers that may be there. .ch1m3r4.talk. 10:48, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Shrine/Start Location[edit]

Wouldn't it make more sense to list the start location of the quests instead of shrine locations? Many of the quests don't have shrines associated. 98.255.42.54 22:21, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Daedric quests skyrim achievement

Whiterun Innkeeper[edit]

I spoke to the innkeeper at Whiterun about rumours and instead of getting the listed Daedric quest, I got the location of Azura's Shrine. Anyone else experience this kind of thing?--Dro'Bakha 08:28, 21 November 2011 (UTC)

Me. I only got the location of the shrine, but I got the quest from Aranea when I talked to her. --Neekerisanni123 19:20, 16 December 2011 (UTC)

Daedric Lord's pages[edit]

I'm going to change the Daedric Lord's pages from Skyrim pages to lore pages simple because no other game has a page for one just one Deadric Lord 68.109.194.141 03:41 21 November 2011

But many of them occur as NPC's in Skyrim, so the unique pages are warranted Tails-for-Fists 01:02, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
What about ones without NPC's? And couldn't we just add the new info to the lore page? 68.109.194.141 08:01 21 November 2011

Might Not Be Able To Get The Achievement[edit]

I just did every quest and did not get the achievement since I let the skull get destroyed, and since I was not a werewolf I did not get the ring when I spared the beast's life. Can others confirm this is not just a bug? PC version.Rip-Saw 19:35, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

I did the same and no achievement (on PS3) 14:07, 24 Dec 2011. I assume it was allowing the skull to be destroyed that was the issue for me (I got the ring sparing the beasts life, and was not a werewolf so that may be a bug) — Unsigned comment by 2.216.46.122 (talk) at 14:08 on 24 December 2011
Me too (PS3) I got the ring AND took the werewolf's skin. I am pretty sure I have all the artifacts, but my quest counter says 14 Daedric Quests... I killed the orcs so I can't do the Cursed Tribe. — Unsigned comment by 74.111.11.170 (talk) on 12 March 2012

Patch fixes Hircine's Quest?[edit]

I just tried to get both the Savior's Hide and Hircine's Ring, but as soon as I took the beasts skin, the ghost guy appeared and began talking to me - i.e. I had zero chance to turn away and get the ring first.

Interestingly, when I got outside, the other ghost was still there and spoke to me - but I did not get the ring...

Might this be to do with the PS3 patch? --82.32.51.37 14:31, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

The saviors hide is the boomerang of hircine. And allowing the skull of corruption to be destroyed means your never had it in your inventory. There are 16 daedric lords. The achievement (trophy) allows you to miss one. But you guys both missed two. — Unsigned comment by 173.69.184.6 (talk) at 09:10 on 15 February 2012

Skeleton Key[edit]

It says here that the Skeleton Key is a possible reward for a quest. That is not the case because it is lost upon quest completion, and is not a reward, merely an OP item for those who don't finish the quest Darkness Returns. ZeNinjaHawk 08:49, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps there is a more generic term than 'reward' which would describe the column better, but it is an optional reward for taking the quest, if not for finishing. Keeping the artifact as an optional reward is a common practice, there are sometimes optional quest endings which aren't hard-coded into the game. Lukish_TlkCnt 09:59, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Sold an artifact (Dawnbreaker). Am I still able to get the achievement?[edit]

I sold Dawnbreaker very early in the game. Can I still get this achievement on the end? — Unsigned comment by 155.56.68.217 (talk) at 16:20 on 16 December 2011

I didn't get the Acheivement[edit]

I've done all the quests and got all the artifacts. I didn't destroy the skull and I let the razor be reforged and I still don't have the acheivement. Is this a bug? — Unsigned comment by 69.169.188.172 (talk) at 01:12 on 12 January 2012

Did you get the Rueful Axe or Masque of Clavicus Vile? The axe is not a daedric artifact and will not count for the achievement. Kimi the Elf 02:29, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Same same. If you complete all the Oblivion Walker quests. You may make some incorrect choices during the quests and miss out on Collecting 15 Daedric Artifacts. I had noted that some of the Artifacts that I did achieve went missing during game play. I had been using the Dragonborn Gallery to sort my inventory while doing quests. I had to go to Dragonborn Gallery to see what Artifacts I had. I had to use the consol command to recover the missing Artifacts, even though I had completed the quest :( . With the missing Artifacts recovered using the consol, I was not rewarded with the Achievement. So I then used the consol to reset and completed a quest, Ill Met By Moonlight. [1]
Press (~) on keyboard
resetquest DA05 (press enter) on keyboard.
setstage DA05 100 (press enter) on keyboard.

This then recognized that I had all 15 Daedric Artifacts and gave me the Achievement — Unsigned comment by 115.84.71.9 (talk) at 18:21 on 28 October 2020 (UTC)

i didnt get the oblivion walker achievement[edit]

I completed all the daedric quests, however it says in the stats that I have only completed 14. I have 15 artifacts excluding the key I know that doesn't count. So is it a bug that I don't have the achievement? Its the final achievement I need for the game and has been for awhile because I think its a glitch :( — Unsigned comment by 174.252.35.149 (talk) at 02:27 on 15 January 2012

I'm looking at my quest log now and it says 15 completed but I'm STILL not getting the trophy...it is the ONLY one I need for platinum too! Can anyone help??!!

I'm guessing here, but some of those quests can be completed in different ways, not all of which count. The Vaermina quest, for example, can be completed by either killing Erandur and keeping the Skull or by letting him destroy the Skull. Only the first method lets you keep the artifact. The achievement doesn't care about quest completion, only about the number of artifacts you collect.QuillanTalk 04:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
I had to complete all 15 Daedric Quests before i got the achievement even though i got both the ring of hircine and the savior's hide. Martingolding96 (talk) 07:15, 3 November 2013 (GMT)

All on one character?[edit]

On my first run through, I failed the Namira quest by killing Eola. I didn't find out until MUCH later that this was a required quest for this achievement. I have all of the other artifacts on this character though. If I create a second character and do the quest, will it count? Or does a single character have to have received all 15? — Unsigned comment by 74.67.187.7 (talk) at 17:11 on 21 January 2012

A single character has to receive all 15. --Morrolan (talk) 00:57, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

Azura's Star/Black Star[edit]

Do both versions count toward the achievement? I didn't see it specify if one or either counted and the black star is refered to as 'The Black Star' as opposed to 'Azura's Black Star' so is it still a Daedric Artifact after being altered as far as the achievement is concerned?--Asmodean 18:59, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Yes both versions count so you can choose whichever one you want. RIM 19:06, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

Skeleton Key[edit]

I have seen on other sites that the skeleton key counts as a deadric artifact while in your possession. I cant confirm this on ps3 easily. Can someone think of an easy way to confirm before I try.--The Silencer 04:12, 7 March 2012 (UTC)

Bug-ridden achievement[edit]

Seems like the achievement Oblivion Walker is bugged.. I've done all daedric quests with 3 characters now, and still haven't got it. With one character, I made sure to sell none of the artifacts, and had 16 in my inventory (even made sure to get Hircine's ring and armor) - no update. Then I sold all and bought them back, gave me a second copy of each with the console, stuffed them all into various chests and 'looted' them again - nothing. I'm giving up on that achievement now. (PC, v1.5) WooShell 15:46, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Same here. I have fifteen artifacts in my actual inventory - not including the Skeleton Key (haven't done that quest on this character), and only getting the Ring of Hircine from 'Ill Met By Moonlight', but other than that I did every Daedric quest the 'right' way to get the artifact. 15 quests completed as per log, all 15 artifacts in my inventory including the not-yet-read Oghma Infinium, and nothing. Tried saving and reloading, zoning in and out with them in my inventory, putting them all in containers and picking them back up again... nope. And since I don't really feel like doing it all again on another character just in case it doesn't bug out, I guess I won't be getting this achievement (PC, v1.9) 90.222.136.56 13:29, 11 August 2013 (GMT)
Just completed last quest, read Oghma Infinitum, no achievement. Had Steam open, but using Skyrim Script Extender, so started via Mod Manager. Other achievements have appeared, so expected no problem. No good. I have all the items, stored in a box or on racks, and nothing. Any ideas? FMPhoenixHawk (talk) 11:33, 21 January 2014 (GMT)

Online vs Offline[edit]

I don't know if this could have any effect on whether the achievement pops up or not and I don't know if it'd be difficult to confirm. I've done three playthroughs now of Skyrim.

1st - Missed the Skull of Corruption, didn't realise there was an achievement for all the Daedric Artefacts and was playing a 'hero' character. 2nd - Got all Daedric artefacts except Hircine's Ring but got the Saviours Hide so I had 15/16 possible artefacts. The achievement didn't pop. 3rd - I did all the Daedric quests except Boethiah's Calling and got 15/16 artefacts again as I used the glitch to get both Hircine's Ring and the Saviours Hide. The achievement didn't pop. Then I did Boethiah's Calling, signed into XBox Live, completed the quest to get the Ebony Mail and the achievement popped up. The only thing I did any different was being signed into XBox Live.

Like I said, I don't know the mechanisms behind achievements and I'm sure lots of people have gotten it without being signed in but since it was the only difference thought I'd post to see if anyone who has so far had bad luck with the achievement popping up could try it again while being signed into XBox Live.

Oghma Infinium[edit]

The Oghma Infinium does not count towards the Oblivion Walker acheivement. The topic page has been edited to reflect this. For more information regarding this please see the thread at the Skryim Nexus forum.[2]

Does this need confirmation with the Creation Kit? Or is the Nexus Forum sufficient confirmation for this info? This message was written by RosaliaTell her what you think......of her work here. 19:51, 26 February 2013 (GMT)
Here's a list of all the scripts that have the 'AchievementsQuest.IncDaedricArtifacts()'. It includes Discerning the Mundane (DA04) but I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I know that I got this without using the exploit in Nov 2011, so if it's broken, then it's only broken lately. The forum post has only one contributor asking about a breakage, it's not nearly enough to go on to add it to the page. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:10, 26 February 2013 (GMT)
Agreed. I've gotten the achievement and I've never been able to use the double-artifact exploit. (Guessing either Bethesda or the USKP fixed that loophole.) The proof of concept mentioned in the post is insufficient—depending where the scripting was added, it's possible that the poster (you?) was simply given double-credit for the Oghma Infinium after having failed to get credit for an earlier one. There are a couple of bugs in that regard, as detailed on the various Daedric quest pages. Robin Hood(talk) 23:18, 26 February 2013 (GMT)
It must be USKP that fixed the double-artifact exploit, I did it on 1.9 Skyrim on the XBox. --Morrolan (talk) 13:16, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

Darkness Returns[edit]

Why is it listed here? It's classified as a Thieves Guild quest. If we're going to go around listing all the quests that involve a Daedric Prince in some way, that's going to include most of the Dragonborn core story (Mora) and several Dawnguard quests (Molag Bal) as well. --Morrolan (talk) 01:00, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

Yes because its a quest for a Daedric Prince, and I don't see why it needs removed on that basis, its not like all the Shivering quests are listed on the equivalent Oblivion page. Everything doesn't always have to fit perfectly or not at all, it fits here and is sufficiently explained to be a Thieves Guild quest. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:32, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
It doesn't have the Daedric knotwork, which was the reason given for removing Forgotten Legend from the College of Winterhold page. --Morrolan (talk) 12:09, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
The knotwork is not a part of the reason why Forbidden Legend was removed, it was removed because it isn't technically, procedurally, or any other way, a College quest, despite the necessity of joining the College to complete, the knotwork was only brought up in defense of the other quests you took issue with. In the same way Discerning the Transmundane is not a Main Quest even though it must be started to complete Elder Knowledge. This quest fits the description of a Daedric Quest, but lacks the technical categorization, which is duly noted, there is no need for this nitpicking. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 12:38, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
The story of the Forgotten Legend quest is about an Arch-Mage of the College of Winterhold. It is clearly, by lore, a College quest. --Morrolan (talk) 12:48, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
I'm going to have to ask you to clarify. Forbidden Legend was the quest you added to the College page which I reverted, and named here. There is no 'Forgotten Legend' quest. The lore behind a quest doesn't qualify it, the quest is about the three sons, and it isn't clear that the college is involved anyway, as Geirmund was Archmage of Windhelm, and it doesn't say where Gaulder was Archmage of. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 12:59, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

(←) Yeah, I forgot the name. We're talking about the same quest. Gauldur and Geirmund (his successor) are clearly Archmages of Winterhold, as we know from Serana's dialogue that the College was active in the First Era and they're Archmages in Skyrim during the First Era. --Morrolan (talk) 13:04, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

Geirmund's Epitaph declares him Archmage of Windhelm, meaning that we can't just assume that Gaulder was Archmage of the College. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:19, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
I personally don't think this should could as a Daedric quest, since all the other Daedric quests in the game involve receiving a Daedric artifact in exchange for services, and you don't get a Daedric artifact for completing this quest. If I recall, the Skeleton Key isn't considered a Daedric artifact for similar reasons, because you're never intended to keep it, you're supposed to complete the quest and return it. ThuumofReason (talk) 13:26, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
So there's an inconsistency in the lore. Gah. Serana seems to clearly indicate there was only one College in her time, with this dialogue line.
On to the original topic of discussion: the Skeleton Key is actually the reward for completing Blindsighted. Darkness Returns is when it gets returned in exchange for the Nightingale powers. --Morrolan (talk) 13:32, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
I think we can all agree that Nightingale powers aren't an artifact, and Darkness Returns isn't a traditional Daedric quest, but to be fair, Nocturnal doesn't have any other presence in this game, and you DO get a reward, so it might be worth including the quest just for that. I'll defer to the community's judgment on this one. ThuumofReason (talk) 13:40, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
So the quest is given to you by a daedric prince which you then get to meet in person but it somehow shouldn't be counted as a daedric quest? I don't really see the point of this discussion. 78.251.141.192 13:48, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

(←) The quest isn't given to you by a Daedric Prince, unless you know something about Karliah that I don't. You do meet a Daedric Prince in it, but really it's no different from the Dragonborn Black Book quests in that regard. --Morrolan (talk) 13:56, 19 September 2013 (GMT)

I know nothing more than you, unless you haven't played the game? Because I clearly remember Nocturnal telling Karliah that we must kill Mercer and bring back the Skeleton Key. So yes if you're gonna nitpick this quest is the follow to to the quest given by Nocturnal, but you're still working for her. 78.251.141.192 14:11, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
Once again, that's not in Darkness Returns. That's in Skyrim:Trinity Restored. If you want to identify all three quests as Daedric Quests, that'd be different, and I'd probably agree with that change. --Morrolan (talk) 14:15, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
That's why I said it was the follow up. Anyway, it sounds good to me. The quests go hand in hand and are all in accordance to Nocturnal's orders. 78.251.141.192 14:30, 19 September 2013 (GMT)
Alrighty, done. One more question. Should we list Nightingale Armor as a reward in the table? It's Daedric in origin, and it's a reward for Trinity Restored. --Morrolan (talk) 01:24, 21 September 2013 (GMT)

Table column proposal[edit]

Should we switch the Pointer Quest or Shrine Location column to a 'How to Start' column? Which is mostly what people will want to know. --Morrolan (talk) 03:48, 24 September 2013 (GMT)

Possible Reason for no Achievement?[edit]

I wonder if enhancing the items might cause the achievement to glitch. Can anyone check that, or has that already been done? FMPhoenixHawk (talk) 04:58, 21 February 2014 (GMT)

Fix for those on PC for stuck Oblivion Walker achievement[edit]

Okay, this fix only works on the PC, and only if you have installed SKSE (Skyrim Script Extender). What you can do is create a file in the SKSE folder called SKSE.ini then put in the following:

[General] ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

I did that and it cleared several stuck scripts. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but it unstuck the achievement for me. FMPhoenixHawk (talk) 21:40, 29 March 2014 (GMT)

How To Do Daedric Quests In Skyrim

Getting the bugged achievment[edit]

My achievement was somehow bugged. Actually, somehow the follower survived the Boethia's Calling, maybe that's happened there (I even kept that save). In Waking Nightmare I didn't want to kill Erandur, so I postponed it on the moment when Thorek and another guy try to kill us and just left the tower. This artifact/quest was the last, so I returned only 30 levels later. So maybe it caused that too.

Googled a lot, found this: http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:466247

A guy named Cylentnyte suggested to re-pick the Skull of Corruption. And actually that worked. Here's the code. I think that should be added to the article to the Bugs section.

resetquest da16 // resets Waking Nightmare back to start

setstage da16 199 // sets the quest to when you have to pick up the staff

set da16skulldestroyed to 0 // tells the game the skull never got destroyed

set da16erandurdead to 1 // tells the game you killed erandur instead

prid 0009ae42 // targets the refid for the skull pedestal inside the cell

enable // brings it back into view

Sure, I don't need this dumb skull, so I'll just reload the game. But it's not ok that you have to use console to complete bugged quests or whatever. Shame on Bethesda. Thanks god, I'm a programmer and know how the stuff works... --188.162.64.123 22:25, 18 July 2014 (GMT)

Wanted to confirm; this worked for me as well. Recommended to list this bug and add fix to save Skull 'til last and save before entering room in case of this bug and/or list this set of commands.

Auriel's Bow Counts Towards This Achievement[edit]

I just completed the quest 'Touching the Sky', and I got the Oblivion Walker achievement when I picked up the bow at the conclusion of the quest. I had previously collected 14 daedric artifacts - all except Namira's Ring. The wiki does not specifically state that this artifact counts towards obtaining this achievement. Perhaps this should be included in the page? — Unsigned comment by 121.6.85.124 (talk) at 09:18 on 1 November 2015 (UTC)

Auriel's bow will count toward the achievement only with the unofficial Dawnguard or Legendary patch (See Changelog: The alias for Auriel's Bow on Touching the Sky (DLC1VQ07) was missing the property for the Achievements script so it never incremented the Daedric artifact counter. Oblivion Walker Achievement[edit]

After having gone through several characters getting 15/15 Daedric Artifacts needed for the Oblivion Walker achievement on the Xbox 360 and not receiving it, I went back and killed Sinding to get the Savior's Hide for a total of 16/15 Daedric Artifacts, and only then did the achievement pop.

It seems that this is the easiest way to fix this particularly annoying achievement, go through, leaving Sinding alive to get the Ring of Hircine first, then killing him to get the Hide, while still getting ALL the other Artifacts. Noobishlord (talk) 03:38, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

Collecting Volendrung is not necessary for the Oblivion Walker achievement/trophy.[edit]

So I just completed this quest as the last in my run to get the trophy for the SE on PS4 - as soon as I completed the quest, I received a notification about the trophy even though the hammer was still sitting on the altar. Seems that there is no requirement to actually possess this item to count towards the artifacts; possibly this is case with other artifacts? - Syko Conor (talk) 00:23, 27 December 2017 (UTC)

The incremental to the achievement is contained within each quest script, so, no, it is not necessary to pick up Volundrung. I believe this is the only case, as all the other items are obtained during the quests (including placed directly in the players inventory during the completion script). daedric quest glitches[edit]

Hey, DarkShadows here, I noticed one of you mentioned about the hircine quest. if you want to get both saviors hide and hircines ring you can choose to help sinding and leave the grove. hircine will appear and give you the ring. once you have the ring, you can go back inside and because you left him alive, you can kill him and hircine will appear again to give you the hide. this happened in Xbox 360, I'm not sure about PlayStation or pc. for molag bal, ages ago I managed to keep the rusted mace and the mace of molag bal but I cant remember how. I'm sure there was a way....do any of you know how? — Unsigned comment by 194.81.127.246 (talk) at 11:00 on 01 February 2019 (UTC)

The Daedric Quests are quests that are completed at the request of one of the Daedric Princes, for some kind of reward, usually a Daedric artifact. Sixteen Daedric Artifacts are available in total (note that the Skeleton Key is not considered to be a Daedric Artifact in Skyrim). Daedric Quests are not considered Side Quests.

Most of the Daedric quests also have an associated 'Pointer Quest', which is a miscellaneous quest objective you may be given that leads you to the actual Daedric quest. It is not always necessary to obtain the Pointer Quest before starting the main quest, but it is the most likely way that you will find out about the Daedric quest. In some cases, you can start the actual Daedric quest by simply visiting the shrine or other location where a Daedric worshipper can be found.

Most of the quests can only be removed from your 'to do' journal upon completion. However, a few of the quests can be failed. This is usually achieved by killing the mortal quest giver. For example, upon entering Silus Vesuius' home, you can kill him, resulting in the failure of Pieces of the Past.

Achievements[edit]

Achievements related to daedric quests are:

  • Daedric Influence (10 points/Bronze) — Acquire a Daedric Artifact
  • Oblivion Walker (30 points/Silver) — Collect 15 Daedric Artifacts
    • It is possible to miss this achievement. To receive it, you must not simply complete 15 Daedric Quests, but must also choose the quest ending that gives you the Daedric Artifact.
    • Quests which do not simply result in you receiving one artifact are:
      • Those which can be completed without receiving an artifact: A Daedra's Best Friend, Pieces of the Past, and Waking Nightmare. See individual quest page for details.
      • Those which can be failed: The Taste of Death, Pieces of the Past, Discerning the Transmundane, and The House of Horrors.
      • Those where an NPC can die before giving you the quest: A Daedra's Best Friend and The Whispering Door.
      • The one which never gives an artifact: Blindsighted (the game considers this quest to be a Thieves Guild quest rather than a Daedric quest, so the Skeleton Key does not count as one of the Daedric artifacts for this achievement).
      • The one which can give two artifacts: Ill Met By Moonlight (both Savior's Hide and Ring of Hircine count as artifacts, and both can be obtained at the same time).
    • You do not need to 'possess' the artifacts, just choose the ending that results in the quest adding to your artifacts total. However, all but one of the quests have the incremental scripted to taking possession of an artifact. The odd-one-out is The Cursed Tribe, where the quest ends but the artifact is placed in front of you (rather than in your inventory). You do not need to keep the artifacts once you have them, though they can be used to verify which quests have been completed 'correctly'.
    • The game tracks the number of Daedric Artifacts and the number of completed Daedric Quests separately. The only statistic visible to the player in-game is the number of 'Daedric Quests Completed' (under General Stats). Since the quest statistic is incremented even if you complete a quest without receiving the artifact, it may not reliably indicate your progress towards this achievement.
    • The Unofficial Skyrim Patch changes Auriel's BowDG to count towards this achievement, despite the fact that it is an Aedric, not Daedric, artifact, and is therefore tied to the plane of Aetherius, rather than the planes of Oblivion.
